Team Leader, Capstone Project

Volunteered for team leader role, which includes defining and clearly communicating responsibilities and schedule, teaching team members machining skills they lack so that everyone can contribute (turning, bending, etc), in addition to personal machining contributions, such as MiG welding and assembly.

 

Capstone Project – Fat Tire Trike

Comprehensive 2-semester project consisting of individual design phase and team manufacturing phase, including design, 3D modeling & 2D CAD part and assembly drawings, bill of material, purchase orders, fabrication, and assembly.  Individual design chosen by professor to be manufactured by team.

 

Mastercam International Wildest Parts Competition Submission

Only student in graduating class to submit entry.  2-semester effort included multiple iterations of 3D modeling, 3D printing prototyping, and 5-axis machining. Personally acquired stock and tooling when school lagged requirement.

 

Additive Manufacturing

Extensive use of personal 3D printing machine from first semester through present to augment class projects.  Multiple prototype builds of Mastercam Competition project, jig creation for Capstone Project.

Demonstrated project management by creating tracking and follow-up procedures for smooth transactions from contract to closing, successfully negotiated hundreds of contracts, represented a diverse clientele

Assembly of drive-through security drawers, including riveting, installing mechanical components, installing electrical switches, limiters, capacitors, and wiring, testing, and troubleshooting.  Also developed spreadsheet inventory system to increase productivity, minimize on-hand inventory of parts, and simplify ordering process

 

Fabricator / Assembler, DOSKOCIL INDUSTRIES, INC., San Bernardino, California, 1997-1999

Fabrication and assembly of stump grinders, wood chippers and mulching machines.  Responsibilities included MIG welding, machining, bearing installation, squaring and aligning shafts, flywheels, and pulleys, and engine, hydraulic system, and electrical system installation.  Developed design improvements, organized workflow to meet strict shipping deadlines, and introduced new parts manufacturer to increase productivity.
